The U4GM Guide of How to start a Cyclone build in PoE 3.27

The spin is back and Cyclone still feels right in PoE 3.27. Cyclone gives constant movement, solid clear, and strong boss pressure when you scale it right. You do not need a mountain of gear to start, but having some PoE 1 Currency makes the early path much smoother. Use small, smart purchases and you will move from story play into yellow maps fast.

Phase one is about getting to Cyclone without slowing your XP. Use a strong early skill like Splitting Steel or Perforate until Cyclone unlocks around level 12. Pick a two-hand focus in the passive tree and rush the Duelist/Slayer nodes. Get a 4-link chest or weapon as soon as you can and swap in Cyclone at level 12–16. Put on a pair of auras that do not kill your mana, and use life flasks that you can afford.

Cyclone’s core comes from how you support the skill. Link Cyclone to supports that do not stop your spin and that add big physical pulses. Shockwave Support is the main trick for heavy single-hit pulses inside the spin. Add supports that boost area, attack speed, and flat physical. For bosses, use General’s Cry or a secondary high-damage skill to pop a big hit without losing map momentum. Keep Heralds and a life regen aura up early. Your skill mix should let you clear quickly while keeping one or two big cooldowns for bosses.

Slayer is the natural ascendancy for Cyclone because it adds raw damage and sustain. Take Impact or similar nodes that raise area size and ensure you land hits. Pick nodes that give life leech or overleech so you do not die while spinning. Headsman or comparable damage nodes make boss fights easier by boosting damage and speed during heavy windows. Focus on nodes that let you keep moving and still recover life. The Slayer path turns Cyclone from a mapper into a boss clearer when paired with the right weapon and a few quality gems.

Weapon and defenses matter more than flashy affixes early on. Prioritize a two-handed weapon with strong base physical DPS and decent speed. Upgrade the weapon as often as you can afford to; a better base helps every link and support you use. Stack maximum life on rare pieces first, then cap resistances by Act 3. Put flat physical on your weapon and keep some attack speed if it does not hurt your clear. If you have a small reserve of PoE 1 Currency, use it to buy a solid 6-link base later rather than tricking out every slot. That single buy multiplies your damage far more than many small upgrades.

Save up currency for a 6-link or a high-roll jewel when you start mapping because those buys convert directly into clear speed and boss kill time. The smart use of Poe 1 Divine Orb lets you test shard setups, buy a socketed helm for resists, or secure a quick Bisco-style ring for clear speed.
